A man who admitted to a fatal shooting in Springfield seven years ago has been sentenced to life in prison. Prosecutors say it was not until last September that investigators were able to obtain a confession from Eric Fairburn who shot William McDaniel at a home on Turner Street in May 2004. That’s when he turned himself in to police in Indianapolis. Investigators say the shooting was revenge for a motorcycle crash that killed a friend of Fairburn two weeks before the shooting.
